During the next few months I'll be converting an old gas powered car to run on clean, cheap electricity. It's a serious learning curve for me but I'm up for the challenge - and hey, if I can do it then believe me, anyone can do it!
After looking around, I bought a 1987 Mitsubishi Tredia for $180 in March 2007. The engine had blown (I was told) so after paying the previous owner and filling out a change-of- ownership form, we towed it home to begin the slow but interesting process of converting this old clunker to run on electricity.
It was way beyond breakdown recovery and seemed the ideal candidate for being taken down the EV route. Having a small soft spot for these cars also helped as I would be spending quite a few hours working on the thing.
But first we had to get the darn thing up the driveway you can see in the picture. I thought that if we gave it everything we had, we'd be able to push it up the drive and into the garage. Alas, it's a bit steeper than it looks...
